Apply to Graduate
The big day is finally here, and you have worked hard for this moment. You can apply to graduate if you have successfully completed all program and course requirements for an approved program of study.
Applications are received online through your myNWP account. Once we receive your application and your eligibility is verified, your parchment will be issued by the Registrar or designate, and you will be invited to attend Convocation.
It is essential that you apply before the deadline. If you miss the application cut-off, you will have to apply the following year.
Apply to GraduateEligibility Requirements
To graduate, receive your parchment and attend Convocation, you must meet the graduation eligibility requirements.
Your eligibility to graduate will normally be considered in accordance with the official program requirements for the year in which you first enrolled and were admitted into the program. If you have taken a full year break in your studies, you will normally return under the new curriculum in place at that time (if applicable) and will need to ensure that any previous course work is still relevant and applicable to the current program.
Read the Graduation PolicyNotice of Financial Hold
All gradautes must be in good standing. If you have applied to graduate or attend a Convocation Ceremony and have not cleared outstanding accounts (including housing and Learning Commons), you will not be allowed to participate in Convocation ceremonies and you will not receive graduation documents.
Residency Requirement
You may transfer credits from another institution, or accumulate credits from advanced standing or challenge procedures in order to fulfill curriculum requirements. Approved transfer credits must be showing on your official NWP transcript before they will be considered for graduation purposes. In order to graduate, you must complete 50 percent of the curriculum requirements of your program at Northwestern Polytechnic.
Grade Point Average Requirement
A minimum grade of D is required in any course considered for graduation. Some programs may require more than this minimum requirement and may require you to present an overall grade point average that exceeds 1.0. Additional graduation requirements are detailed in the program description section of the Academic Calendar. You are advised to review these requirements with your program advisor and/or with the department chairperson concerned.
