Circle of Indigenous Students (CIS)
The Circle of Indigenous Students is the Indigenous student group that provides support to Indigenous students on campus through cultural and social activities. Although this group has an elected executive that brings forward the collective voice of students, it is led by current students. With the support of the Indigenous Liaison Coordinator and Campus Friendship Centre Outreach Worker, the cultural needs of students are met through various avenues such as;
- Monthly meetings
- Sharing/talking circles
- Elder visits
- Student and family events
- Annual graduation celebrations
Talking Circles
Several times each semester, students and staff are invited to participate in Talking Circles that explore such topics as coping with loneliness, stress, career options, self-esteem building and transition to Northwestern Polytechnic. Talking Circles are available on request.
