N95 Mask Fitting

Description

Effective immediately, mask fit tests that are requested outside the prescheduled mask fit sessions will now be $70.00. This is an option for learners who do not want to attend a group session or those who have allowed their certification to expire and require immediate testing. 

N95 mask fit orientation and testing is a pre-requisite for clinical placements. N95 mask fit testing is conducted utilizing those models that are most widely used and available through Alberta Health Services.

Course Preparation

• Mask fit testing is a pass or fail assessment of the adequacy of a respirator. A qualitative fit test determines whether or not someone can detect various scents or flavours. Please do not use any strongly scented products prior to your fit test and do not eat, drink, chew gum or smoke within thirty minutes of your fit test. 
• N95 masks are not for use with beards or other facial hair that prevents direct contact between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator.

Mask fit tests are valid for 2 years and are only available to NWP students.
