Northwestern Polytechnic is building on our agriculture roots in Fairview. Working together with our farming and livestock community, we have developed a new program offering that will help develop next generation cultivation and animal husbandry professionals.

NWP’s Agriculture Operations Diploma Program prepares graduates for employment as grain farm or livestock farm workers.
Program DetailsGrounded Career Options
Graduates gain the skills, knowledge, and attitude to operate equipment, perform maintenance on equipment, lead a team, haul, or transport grains or livestock, incorporate technology and industry trends, promote farm safety, and to focus on productivity and ethical land/animal practices.
This program equips students with a comprehensive skill set and knowledge base that will enable them to thrive as competent and responsible farm workers in today’s dynamic agricultural landscape. From cultivating crops to managing livestock, students gain hands-on experience and theoretical insights that make them valuable assets to farming operations.
Hands-on Experience
Working alongside experienced growers, animal handlers, and agriculture professionals, students will participate in two work terms, providing exposure to everyday operations in real-world settings.
Admission Requirements
- English 20-2, minimum grade of 50%
- Mathematics 20-1, 20-2, or 20-3, minimum grade of 50%
- Physics 20 OR Chemistry 20 OR Biology 20 OR Science 20
- Must be 18 years of age prior to starting year 2 of the program
- Hold any class of Alberta non-probationary driver’s licence (Graduated Driver’s Licensing Program drivers are not eligible for a Class 1 driver’s licence)
