Connection to Community
Northwestern Polytechnic has many connections to the community through services and events. Our facilities cater to everyone; from musicians mixing in the recording studio, and climbers belaying in the climbing gym, to theatregoers taking in a musical stage production, and summer campers building lego projects.
We host exciting events like the President's Ball and the Northwestern Classic Golf Tournament, which allow the community to give back to the institution through fundraising initiatives which are vital to our students.
During the academic year, the gymnasium is often a hive of activity with fans cheering on their NWP Wolves volleyball or basketball teams Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. If soccer is your game, the Pomeroy Field is where the action is on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Our daycare centre and pre-school program use evidence-based child care curriculum framework to give children the best possible start in life. Guided by instructors in the Early Learning and Childcare Program, our students gain hands-on experience to provide quality care for children in our community.
The Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre, Collins Recital Hall, Black Box Theatre and Fred Speckeen Theatre play host to scores of community musical and drama productions, including student recitals and performances.
For the eternal learner, NWP Continuing Education has a myriad of offerings available to the local community through online and face-to-face courses. Whether it's professional driver trainer training, digital camera fundamentals or basic bookkeeping, we can help you expand your life or professional skills.
Good health and fitness are fundamental to quality of life, and through our facilities, we can help start, improve or maintain your fitness journey. With reasonable drop-in and membership fees, you can work on your cardio in our weight room, or learn to climb in the only climbing gym in the city.
Budding fitness leaders can rent our fitness studio, which is perfect for a yoga or spin class.
The gymnasium which can be configured to cover basketball or volleyball plays host to many community sporting events like the annual all-star high-school basketball and volleyball games.
If it's a more elite level of fitness you require, the Alberta Sport Development Centre caters to emerging athletes and coaches who need to train at a higher level.
NWP strives to add value by connecting to our community through many services and partnerships. For more information, or to get involved, please contact Community Relations.
