The Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board is responsible for determining eligibility for apprenticeship training. Once eligibility is confirmed, you can register for Apprenticeship training at NWP in any of the following ways:
- Online – Register by visiting MyTradesecrets
- Email – Registration forms can be downloaded here. Payment information can be included on the form or provided over the phone once your form is received. Payment is due at the time of registration.
- In-Person – Stop by the Registrar’s Office on either campus between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. We are closed on all major holidays.
Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and successful students will be sent an email confirmation once registration has been completed.
2023-24 Fees
Find out the cost of your program here. Tuition and fees can be paid by American Express, Visa, Mastercard, cash, debit, or purchase order. Apprentices are responsible for required textbooks and course supplies. Incidental fees may be assessed dependent upon trade and are payable on the first day of class.
Attendance and Orientation
Orientation (the first day of classes) and all scheduled dates in an apprenticeship are mandatory. The apprentice is responsible for notifying NWP if they will not be attending the first class. In the event an apprentice is not present, the apprentice will have until the second class day at 2:00 p.m. to contact the Registrar’s Office via email at apprenticeship@nwpolytech.ca or by phone at 1-888-822-2250. Failure to contact NWP may result in removal from the class without notice, and no refund will be issued.
Refund Policy
Up to one business day prior to the first day of class, you can withdraw through your MTS account, by emailing apprenticeship@nwpolytech.ca or in-person at the Registrar’s Office on either campus. A $100.00 administrative fee will be assessed.
Refunds must be requested in writing to apprenticeship@nwpolytech.ca as they are not automatically issued. If a cancellation request is received less than one business day prior to the first day of class, no refund of tuition & fees will be issued. A minimum of $100 will be withheld should you cancel your enrolment prior to the first day of class. Once classes commence, there will be no refund of fees.
Sponsorship
Apprentices who have sponsors or employers paying their fees must provide the Registrar’s Office with the required documentation from their sponsor to confirm what is being covered, as well as invoicing specifics. The Apprenticeship Confirmation of Sponsorship (COS) must accompany the Registration Form for processing.
