Northwestern Polytechnic honours donors to our award, scholarship and bursary program at the annual Your Vision, Our Students event, which brings together our student recipients and donors.
Every year NWP students receive upwards of $500,000 in awards, scholarships and bursaries thanks to individuals and organizations with the vision to create a better future by supporting our students. NWP students, faculty and staff are grateful for the incredibly generous individuals, organizations and businesses who make this possible.
Our NWP students juggle their studies with their families and often work so they can achieve their education and career goals. For our students, receiving an award, scholarship or bursary means they can better afford their tuition and cover living expenses like rent and groceries, so they can spend more time pursuing their studies rather than worrying about making ends meet or delaying their education.
2020 Your Vision, Our Students
This year’s event was to be held April 6, 2020 and included admission to the NWP Jazz Concert to thank our donors. Unfortunately it had to be cancelled to support provincial government and health officials’ direction to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
While we couldn’t bring everyone together to honor our donors this year, we can still share how NWP donors make a difference in the lives of our students and why giving to NWP can have such a meaningful impact on donors.

This year's event brought together second year NWP Music student MacKenzie Lowen, and longtime NWP donors, Bill and Maura Good.
Lowen spends hours a day in voice and piano practice on top of attending full-time classes, after-class choir practices and occasional performances on the evenings and weekends. The $6,000 she received from five donor-supported awards means she’s practicing for her future career rather than scrambling to make ends meet.
Bill and Maura Good were both teachers with long, successful careers making a difference in the lives of students in the region. In 2014, Bill and Maura’s children and friends established a bursary for a deserving third-year student in the TEN program in Bill and Maura’s name to honour the longtime educators and recognize the value of NWP students to the community.
For NWP students like Lowen, being the recipient of the generosity and leadership of donors like the Good family means the difference between “getting by” in school and getting to do their best.
