GRANDE PRAIRIE – Grande Prairie Regional College’s (GPRC) popular Unit Clerk program is meeting the demand by offering an online opportunity to interested learners.
“Our on-campus Unit Clerk program is always in high demand and it fills up quite quickly,” says Deena Honan, Instructor and Chair of the Nursing Education and Health Studies Department.
The 20-week full time online program is designed to prepare learners for their vital future role in the health care field by managing the flow of information in settings such as hospitals, health units and clinics. This program which is currently offered on GPRC’s Grande Prairie campus will now also be available to take online starting February 2017.
“We are so excited to be able to offer this program online,” says Honan. “We are taking the steps to meet the high demand of the program and ensure all students who want to learn about the profession are able to do so.”
The Unit Clerk program includes a 5-week work practicum component, which provides students with the opportunity to consolidate previous classroom learnings in real-world work settings.
“The practicum placement is something all students love,” says Honan. “It allows them to gain more confidence in their knowledge and skills before they go out into the workforce on their own.”
