As GPRC approaches its 50th anniversary, it is rewarding to see that research and innovation has become an integral part of the College experience. From its roots as the Integrated Research Unit, to the Centre for Research & Innovation (2007-2016), the newly formed department of GPRC Research & Innovation will continue to lead the development of the research and innovation capacity for the College and the Community – which includes Industry and Partners.
Industry
Since 2007, when the College obtained its first Alberta Government Grant to offer “one-stop-shop” services to regional innovators, the College has supported over 2000 regional innovators advance their new product ideas through an informal partnership arrangement with regional municipal government and regional service providers. These services remain a priority for the College and the regions municipal government and service providers have recently formed a formal partnership – Grande Prairie Regional Innovation Network (GPRIN)
Enhanced innovation and technology commercialization services continue to be provided from Centre 2000. Alberta Innovates’ Technology Development Advisor, Bob Hall, provides commercialization support services and is your guide to program funds. Bob can guide to Industry Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program and their Industrial Technology Advisor who now visit the region on a regular basis.
