At GPRC, research and innovation has become one of the pathways to becoming a PolyTechnic University. Integrating research and innovation skills into classroom experiences, and expanding research and or innovation based work opportunities for faculty engaged with students is becoming a new reality at GPRC.
Is there support for research? – YES!
GPRC Research & Innovation (R&I) is the GPRC department that leads the development of applied research (including scholarship) and innovation (including technology commercialization) capacity for the College and Community.
This includes support for your applied research interests. Check out the Services section of the R & I webpages for Grants; Research Assistance and or questions related to Intellectual Property. Note: use of Copyrighted materials within the classroom is a question for David Tichler in the Library, 780.539.2938 or dtichler@gprc.ab.ca.
You will find the R&I team in room M116 (in the Continuing Education suite M105) on the Grande Prairie Campus.
What is my requirement to conduct research ethically?
Policies relative to research and innovation (there are 7 of them) can be found in the policy section of the R&I section of the GPRC website.
The College has also signed on to the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 for Responsible Conduct of Research. This means, all research conducted by college staff, at the College or with community or industry partners must undergo a research ethics review. This also means that as a faculty member, you have a duty to be informed.
