NWP Launches New Competition
Friday, June 7th, 2024
Northwestern Polytechnic is kicking off National Indigenous History Month with a creative twist.
With the help of local Indigenous artists, Alberta’s newest polytechnic is looking to add an impactful new jersey to its existing suite of home and away competitive apparel in the coming months.
“Our plan is to unveil a new Indigenous jersey design that can be worn with pride by our Wolves basketball, soccer, cross-country, indoor track, futsal, and volleyball teams,” explains NWP Director of Athletics, James Phillips. “We are hopeful that the talented Indigenous artists in our midst will answer our call for assistance in the creation of a design that reflects the distinctive culture, people, and relationships of Treaty 8 territory.”
In the spirit of healthy competition, NWP is inviting Indigenous artists to submit their design concepts by 8:00 am MST July 8, 2024.
All entries will then be reviewed and a winning design announced July 15, 2024.
“Community engagement is an important way that NWP can improve understanding and increase visibility,” says NWP President and CEO, Dr. Vanessa Sheane. “We can’t wait to see the creative outputs and to showcase the winning design throughout the upcoming season.”
