NWP Board of Governors Chairperson Shawna Miller
Northwestern Polytechnic is pleased to announce that Shawna Miller has been reappointed as Chair of the Board of Governors for an additional three-year term, ending in December 2026.
NWP’s Board of Governors welcomed Shawna to the role of Chairperson earlier this spring, following the departure of Bridget Hennigar who served on the Board for six years.
“These past few months have been wonderful, connecting with valued stakeholders and gaining an appreciation of the operational and administrative facets of both the Fairview and Grande Prairie campuses,” said Shawna Miller, NWP Board of Governor Chair. “I am eager to continue building momentum with the learning community and looking forward to being part of NWP’s bright future. I would like to thank the Minister of Advanced Education for reappointing me to this important role.”
Shawna is a well-known business leader in the community and a local alumna. After completing a Business Administration qualification, she attended the University of Alberta where she earned a Bachelor of Arts (Economics major). In 2023, Shawna added a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University.
"This is great news not only for NWP, but also for our region,” said Dr. Vanessa Sheane, NWP President and CEO. “Shawna is extremely knowledgeable, and results driven. She understands and values the role of post-secondary education in creating prosperous individuals and communities.”
