Northwestern Polytechnic is excited to launch a brand-new suite of offerings for healthcare professionals. The Practice Preparation for Domestic and Internationally Educated Nurses program will provide a variety of course options for carers, with the very first offering focused on preparing nurses to write the NCLEX Rn exam.
"NWP will provide a variety of options for domestic and international healthcare professionals to enhance their baseline knowledge," said School of Health Dean, Megan Stone.
Nurses at any point in their career can pursue further development opportunities in a variety of subjects, including maternity care, pharmacology, jurisprudence, and Indigenous health. By December 2023, there will be a total of seven courses available through NWP’s Department of Continuing Education.
“This is a collaborative initiative that will help build and strengthen our healthcare workforce,” says Continuing Education Associate Dean, Michelle Wallace. “NWP is excited to launch education that will enhance healthcare workers’ knowledge, assisting them to excel in their profession.”
Alberta’s newest polytechnic is attuned to student, workforce, and community needs. NWP has carefully laid out a customizable program that enables learners to balance their educational pursuits with personal and professional commitments.
“We understand the importance of growing the number of qualified healthcare providers in urban, rural, and remote communities,” adds Acting NWP President and CEO, Dr. Vanessa Sheane. “Over the last few years, NWP has made a conscious effort to add even more healthcare diploma, certificate, degree and continuing education programs and seats with the goal of boosting local capacity.”
