This fall, Northwestern Polytechnic is welcoming more than just new students, two new degrees, and an array of new programs. As a result of some recent staff movements, the institution is proud to announce three executive leadership position updates.
“We are excited to formally introduce these exceptional team members to our learning community,” says Dr. Vanessa Sheane, acting President and CEO. “NWP’s Executive Council is integral in advancing strategic and operational success at NWP, and we are looking forward to the energy and expertise that these new members will bring to their respective roles.”
Cindy Park is a long-time community member who will serve as Vice President External Relations. With a proven track record in cultivating impactful relationships, driving strategic initiatives, and elevating public image, Cindy is a champion for stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
“I am particularly drawn to NWP because of its reputation for excellence, commitment to innovation, and dedication to creating positive societal impact in our community,” says Park. “I am excited by the opportunity to lead the external relations efforts, contribute to the organization’s continued success, and play a pivotal role in advancing its mission.”
Along with a new Vice President of External Relations, NWP is also welcoming two other familiar faces to the Executive Council, which is led by acting President and CEO, Dr. Vanessa Sheane.
Dr. Carly McLeod, who was instrumental in establishing NWP’s four-year Bachelor of Business Administration degree, has moved from her role of Dean, School of Business, to serve as the acting Provost and Vice President Academic and Research. This role oversees NWP’s Academic and Research Division, providing guidance for the polytechnic’s four Schools - Health, Business, Applied Science and Technology, and Skilled Trades, as well as the School of Students and Registrar’s Office.
Thomas Watts will also be undertaking a new role as Karl Germann prepares to transition out of the Vice President Corporate Services later this year. Thomas has a long history with NWP, serving the institution in various roles since 2011. Prior to joining the team as Capital Manager and more recently as Facilities Director, Thomas worked with Alberta Health Services as a Senior Financial Analyst.
“Our academic year is off to a great start and the addition of these team members will only strengthen our approach,” says Dr. Sheane. “We are eager to build on our momentum to date as we work collaboratively with our communities and industries to ensure responsive programming and long-term regional value.”
