Golfers at the 2023 Northwestern Classic
Participants at Northwestern Polytechnic’s signature golf events are driving, chipping, and putting with purpose. Along with providing a great opportunity to connect, the Northwestern Classic and the Fairview Classic golf days are important learning community fundraisers.
“Through these fundraising events, our community is able to broaden the opportunities available to our students,” says NWP President and CEO, Justin Kohlman. “The money raised goes directly to our students so we can reduce barriers to increase the number of students who are able to succeed.”
The sold out 34th annual Northwestern Classic, held on June 2, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club raised more than $60K towards Northwestern Polytechnic’s Welcome First Awards.
Launched earlier this year, the Welcome First Award provides $2000 to selected first-year domestic students who are registered in one of four eligible programs. The eligible programs in Fall 2023 include the Bachelor Business Administration Degree, Bachelor of Computing Science Degree, as well as Practical Nurse Diploma or Campus Health Care Aide Certificate at the Fairview Campus.
NWP’s next fundraiser will be the first-ever Fairview Classic with title sponsor, Swartzy Welding. The 18-hole best ball scramble will take place at the Fairview Golf Club on Friday, August 25 and includes a silent auction as well as an evening of food and camaraderie.
“The Fairview Classic is an opportunity for the community to rally around the students at NWP’s Fairview Campus,” says Andrea Pyper, NWP Manager of Theatre and Event Services. “This is sure to become an annual event that will benefit our students for years to come.”
Registration for the Fairview Classic is open, but team spots and cart rentals are limited.
