GPRC Wolves Women's Basketball New Recruit, Makayla Porteous.
Recruitment season has kicked off for the 2021-22 GPRC Wolves Women’s Basketball team. GPRC is pleased to welcome new athletes into inclusive post-secondary sports through the 5GPRC priority of delivering a unique student experience for every wolf-pack member. Head Coach, Bill Bradley is excited to add his first recruits to the roster.
Meet Makayla Porteous.
Hailing from Okotoks, Alberta, Porteous is looking forward to joining the Wolves and growing as a basketball player. “GPRC aligns perfectly with my schooling and allows me to finish half of my degree. This facility will give me the opportunity to grow as a player and continue playing the sport that I am passionate about.”
Porteous is bringing great experience to the Wolves roster. In 2019, she brought home the South Central Zone Senious High championship with her teammates, and in that same year, earned a silver medal in the Senior High Cardston Cougar Classic. More recently in 2020, Porteous was honoured with the Coaches Choice Award for Foothills Composite.
In her upcoming rookie season, Porteous is looking forward to creating lasting friendships with her teammates. “I am excited to learn what it means to be a College player and to put in the work. I am also excited to make new friends on the team and create lasting memories with them.”
Head Coach, Bill Bradley is pleased to add Porteous to his roster. “I am very excited to get to work with Makayla. She has shown that she can score in a variety of different ways and I’m hoping that we can transfer that ability up to ACAC next season.”
Welcome to the pack, Makayla.
