News Archives: Winning Start for the Wolves Men's Basketball

On Saturday night, GPRC Wolves Men’s Basketball hosted Burman University, in their first exhibition game of the season. With 8 returning players and a strong end to the 2015/16 season, resulting in a playoff berth, the Men have a great foundation this season, which was evident in a strong performance this weekend.
After the 1st quarter the score was 18-11 for the Wolves, extending the lead in the second quarter to 33-22. In the second half, GPRC outscored the Bobcats 24-11, taking a 57 to 33 lead into the 4th. Despite struggling to shoot from the 3 the men secured a fair amount of offensive rebounds to win the 4th quarter and the game, 79-52, with Derek McKnight leading the Wolves scoring, with 11 points.
Sunday’s game was much the same as the Wolves led 18-13 after the 1st quarter and 39-32 at half time. The lead stayed the same throughout the second halfand the Wolves pulled out a hard earned 75-68 win with Yasser Abdullahi leading the Wolves scoring with 21.
On October 7th and 8th, GPRC Men’s and Women’s Basketball travel to Prince George for two exhibition games against the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves in preparation for the start of their conference season at home vs Kings University, on October 14th and 15th.
