Tuesday, June 13th, 2017

GPRIN and Alberta Innovates held a meeting of the minds on June 7 and 8 at GPRC Grande Prairie campus. The event was organized by Alberta Innovates, a provincially-funded organization that facilitates research, innovation, and economic development in Alberta. Representatives from GPRC R&I and other member organizations met for an intensive two-day spring meeting whose aim was to improve communication among the innovation networks and to provide updates about current and upcoming initiatives.
The two-day meeting featured discussino about emerging technologies, processes and policies, new programs, and intra-network communication. Attendees were led through team- and skill-building workshops, including using LEGO blocks to stimulate creativity and collaborative brainstorming.
Members also took a trip to Evergreen Park, where the Evergreen Learning and Innovation Society demonstration site is located. We toured Grande Prairie-based company and GPRIN client Radix Innovation, who has been developing a sand separation system prototype in collaboration with Rheaume Engineering, and were able to learn more about some the outstanding innovation taking place in our region.
