News Archives: Sisters Graduate Together

Although neither Jordan Molson nor Laurel Ysebaert originally planned to become Veterinary Technologists, both sisters from Courtright, Ontario found their way to GPRC’s Animal Health Technology (AHT) program.
Ysebaert moved West four years ago with her husband, first to Calgary, then to Grande Prairie where she decided she would return to school, however, not originally in AHT. Ysebaert had always loved animals, but only recently thought of it as a career.
Molson enrolled in various programs and took her first year of the Veterinary Technician program in Windsor, Ontario before she decided she needed a change and applied to the AHT program at GPRC.
“We've both had our fair share of post-secondary exploration, and the fact we both found ourselves in the same program at the same time is pretty cool,” said Ysebaert.
Being in the AHT program together has made their experiences at GPRC over the last two years even more enjoyable. As live in study partners they fostered healthy competition, and at the same time made things less stressful. The sisters loved being able to share their learning experiences with each other and their other classmates.
Molson says they enjoyed “learning from our knowledgeable instructors” who “have been very helpful in teaching us the skills we need to be successful technicians.”
“Veterinary medicine is definitely where we both belong,” said Ysebaert, “We both have a passion for animals which we definitely inherited from our father and late grandmother."
Molson and Ysebaert were two of approximately the 430 students recognized as GPRC’s 2017 graduating class in Fairview.
Both girls look forward to applying their skills in the veterinary field and are excited to begin their careers as Veterinary Technologists.
