More About Patricia

Patricia Wolf Veiga, manager of the NBDC since 2018, has been the Diagnostic Technician at NBDC-TAC since 2012. Patricia grew up in Brazil in a farm environment where she acquired beekeeping experience working with Africanized Honey Bees on her family's farm.

After completing her bachelor's degree in Biology at the Federal University of Parana in 2006, Patricia moved to Victoria, British Columbia, in 2007, where she worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Forest Biology at the University of Victoria. A few years later, she engaged in the graduate program in the Biology department at UVic, and recently earned her Master's degree in soil microbiology. In addition to her academic achievements, Patricia has extensive experience conducting DNA and RNA analyses on bees and has extensive knowledge of the Illumina MiSeq platform.
