Rural Sexual Assault Care - Expanded Micro-credential (RSA01)
Description
This micro-credential prepares rural medical professionals to provide comprehensive, trauma informed care to survivors of recent sexual assault. The micro-credential is built upon the Enhanced Emergency Sexual Assault Services (EESAS) program developed by Dr. Carter-Snell. It focusses on the role and responsibility of healthcare professionals in assessment, intervention, evidence collection, and court testimony.
The Rural Sexual Assault Support micro-credential touches on the following topics:
- Module 1: Sexual Assault and Trauma Informed Practice
- Module 2: Psychological Considerations and Selfcare
- Module 3: Triage and Toxicology
- Module 4: Consent, History and Interview, and Reporting
- Module 5: Injuries and Documentation
- Module 6: Body Examination and Evidence Collection
- Module 7: Genital Examination and Evidence Collection
- Module 8: Intervention and Discharge Considerations
- Module 9: Legal Reports and Court Testimony
Prerequisite
Open to Registered Nurses, License Practical Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Midwives, Medical Students, Residents, Travel Nurses and Physicians.
Delivery Format
Asynchronous online, where you have the support of a course tutor to be successful.
Completion Timeframe
This course consists of 10-12 hours of learning material, where you have up 90 days to complete the course.

$299.00
Tuition bursaries are available for eligible learners.
Learner Requirements
Learners must have access to a computer and a stable internet connection. Learners are required to complete all self-study modules and assessments. Assessments include quizzes at the conclusion of each module and two video case simulations. Participants require at least 75% to move on to the next module but can retake quizzes until mastery is achieved.
Refund/Extension Policy
No refunds or withdrawals are permitted for micro-credential courses.
Micro-credential courses are not eligible for an extension. If you do not complete the course content within your registration timeframe, you will have to re-register and pay for the full tuition again.
