Advanced Remotely Piloted Aircraft Flight Review (RPA03) - 7 hours
This course will focus on hands on learning where learners will be able to put the concepts learned in RPA01 and RPA02. Students will receive 7 hours of in-person instruction using RPAS provided by Northwestern Polytechnic. Students will learn to fly both manually piloted missions as well as autonomous missions, with safe usage being a top priority. This course will prepare learners to take and pass a Transport Canada recognized Flight Review to complete the requirements for obtaining their RPAS Advanced Operations Pilot Certificate.
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Plan a mission including identifying airspace, hazards, and weather suitability
- Complete a site survey for the flight location
- Complete pre-flight checks of their RPAS
- Choose an appropriate take-off/landing spot
- Navigate flight planning software including identifying critical settings
- Complete a crew briefing
- Safely complete a manually piloted RPA flight including successful take-off and landing
- Use mission planning software to create an autonomous flight mission while understanding the appropriate settings to use based on the required outcome
- Describe appropriate emergency procedures
- Fly a small commercial remotely piloted aircraft confidently
Pre-Requisites - RPA01 and RPA02.
