Advanced Remotely Piloted Aircraft Flight Review (RPA03) - 7 hours - in collaboration with Eagle Eye Drone Services

This course will focus on hands on learning where learners will be able to put the concepts learned in RPA01 and RPA02.  Students will receive 7 hours of in-person instruction using RPAS provided by Northwestern Polytechnic.  Students will learn to fly both manually piloted missions as well as autonomous missions, with safe usage being a top priority.  This course will prepare learners to take and pass a Transport Canada recognized Flight Review to complete the requirements for obtaining their RPAS Advanced Operations Pilot Certificate.   

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

• Plan a mission including identifying airspace, hazards, and weather suitability
• Complete a site survey for the flight location
• Complete pre-flight checks of their RPAS
• Choose an appropriate take-off/landing spot
• Navigate flight planning software including identifying critical settings
• Complete a crew briefing
• Safely complete a manually piloted RPA flight including successful take-off and landing
• Use mission planning software to create an autonomous flight mission while understanding the appropriate settings to use based on the required outcome
• Describe appropriate emergency procedures
• Fly a small commercial remotely piloted aircraft confidently
