Description
Advanced Remotely Piloted Aircraft Ground School (RPA02) - 15 hours - in collaboration with Eagle Eye Drone Services
This course will build on topics covered in RPA01, RPA Ground School for Basic Operations. The focus will be on advanced topics surrounding the use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) - aka Drones or UAVs (Unmanned Air Vehicles) in complex airspace. Focus will be on RPAS with a maximum takeoff weight between 250 grams up to and including 25 kg and within visual line of sight as per Transport Canada's Canadian Aviation Regulations, Part IX regulatory framework. The course will prepare students to take and Pass Transport Canada's Small Advanced RPAS exam and flight review.
Upon successful completion of this course, leaners will be able to:
- Gain an understanding of the rules and regulations in Canada surrounding flying Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) in airspace designated for advanced operations.
- Be able to easily identify controlled airspace and traffic patterns associated with manned aviation
- Understand aircraft traffic control and how to obtain permission to fly in controlled airspace
- Have an in-depth knowledge of weather allowing the pilot to forecast the weather prior to an RPAS mission
- Understand radiotelephony and prepare the student for taking the Radio Operators Certificate – Aeronautical Qualification
- Have the tools necessary to successfully complete both the Transport Canada Pilot Certificate exam as well as an in-person flight review
Pre-requisite: Basic Remotely Piloted Aircraft Ground School (RPA01).
