GPRC President and CEO Installation Ceremony
The installation Ceremony of GPRC's ninth President and CEO Dr. Robert Murray will be held on March 6, 2020 at 10:00 am in the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre. The GPRC Board of Governors invites everyone to attend as we welcome Dr. Murray into his leadership role.
Dr. Murray started his first day as President and CEO on December 2. He spent his first weeks meeting GPRC students and employees, as well as education leaders in the region and across the province.
Under his leadership, GPRC will build upon its legacy and will become the centre of excellence for post-secondary education in Alberta.

2019 CCAA Cross-Country National Championships
GPRC hosted the 2019 CCAA Cross-Country National Championships on November 8 and 9 at Muskoseepi Park. Despite the heavy snow, the country’s top CCAA runners participated in a Men’s 8 km race and a Women’s 6 km race. Check out the photos and the final stats from the weekend here.

Peace Country Rising Star
GPRC Project Management class students organized the annual Peace Country Rising Stars, a talent competition teaching Business program students how to manage and plan events as a team. The 2019 first place Peace Country Rising Stars winner was Kiemora Kinisky who danced to “Hold On.” Find out more about Peace Country Rising Stars participants and winners.

GPRC Recording Studio Opens Doors for Local Musicians
Cecily Phelps is working on a demo of six songs in the recording studio at GPRC. The 15-year-old had started recording her demo in the studio when she placed second in Peace Country Rising Stars, winning three hours of studio recording time as well as a cash prize. GPRC Art Students Bring Mural to Life at Seniors' Residence
GPRC Fine Arts students Brianna Strickland and Dominique Berger volunteered their talents to paint a mural in the dementia ward of the Grande Prairie Care Centre. The mural of chickadees perching on a branch is made interactive with the use of magnetic paint, allowing residents to change the scene with magnets. Learn about the positive impact these students’ time is making on the centre’s residents.

GPRC Nursing Program Has Global Connections
GPRC hosted two second-year nursing students from the Holmesglen Institute in Australia last semester as part of an ongoing partnership. Both institutions have health centres on school land and GPRC has teamed together with Holmesglen to share opportunities in research and education. GPRC Alumna's Love for Languages Keeps Her Coming Back
Alina Ovsiy graduated from the TEN program at GPRC and began working full-time as a language teacher at Peace Wapiti Academy. Now, her love for language has Ovsiy returning to GPRC in the evenings to brush up on her French with advanced classes in translation. Through this professional development, Ovsiy plans to give her students a better teaching experience, while improving her own skills. Read more about Ovsiy’s story.

The latest edition of GPRC’s Wisdom is available in print and online. It features the successes of Indigenous students, faculty and alumni; highlights Indigenous literature and ceremony; and explores GPRC’s role in the nationwide movement toward healing and reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous peoples.
