Very soon after graduating from GPRC with a Fine Arts diploma in Interactive Digital Design, Richard Podsada began working as a freelance web designer. One of his early projects was the design of a new website for the College. Within a few short years he had become an Owner/Managing Partner of nine10 Incorporated – a full-service marketing agency in Grande Prairie, AB. “My longtime dream was to own a business – a real bona fide business, not a sitting-in-the-basement-on-a-computer type of business” Richard explains. “You know - staff, growth potential, that type of thing.”
Now, as a managing partner of a highly successful local business, Richard is often invited back to the College to speak to current students.
“I am really grateful to the College – to my instructors, to fellow students, to everybody there for the opportunities I’ve been given,“ Richard adds. “I gained so much through my education there, through working there, developing a network there – GPRC has had a huge impact on my life. I went there to get into 3D animation – then learned that what I was doing (website development) was what I actually liked. I tell students now that you can learn things about yourself at various stages along the way. It is okay to change your mind, to choose a new direction. The important thing is that you are able to say to yourself ‘this is what I want to do, what I want to do for other people’.“
