Kendra Pringnitz: A Love For Meeting New People
Thursday, October 3rd, 2024
If you made use of the NWP Learning Commons’ new duplication delivery service over the summer, there’s a good chance your documents were brought to you by the smiling face of Kendra Pringnitz.
Kendra, a NWP alumni who recently completed the Office Professional Program, was hired by the NWP Learning Commons through Inclusion Alberta’s Rotary Employment Partnership. The Partnership works with Rotary clubs, businesses and organizations to create meaningful, paid jobs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. While brainstorming inclusive hiring opportunities with Inclusion Alberta, NWP was able to create a position for Kendra that fit the skillset she acquired in the Office Professional Program, which she enrolled in because she knew she wanted to work as part of a team in an office setting.
Kendra says that delivering documents is one of her favourite things about her job at Learning Commons, as she gets to meet new people while out making deliveries. Amanda Wills, the Learning Commons Chairperson, says that adding duplication deliveries to Kendra’s job supports busy faculty and staff while giving Kendra opportunities to build relationships. “Kendra made many connections while attending NWP as a student, and the duplicating delivery offers her a chance to maintain those relationships and create new ones,” Amanda says.
The office is a natural setting for Kendra given her social personality, sense of humour, and affinity for helping others. While in the Office Professional Program Kendra learned valuable skills in areas like office procedures, business communications, office software, and remote working technologies. She says a highlight for her was when she and her classmates were part of the planning and execution of the 2024 Business Conference.
Kendra valued her time as a student at NWP and enjoys that she is able to continue to be a part of the NWP community in her role working at the Learning Commons. So if you find yourself in need of documents from the Learning Commons, get ready to have them delivered with enthusiasm from Kendra Pringnitz.
