Mental Health Services
On Campus Counselling Services
We offer personal counselling for students onsite as well as via video conference, Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 4:30 p.m. Our confidential counselling services are available by appointment only. When you contact us, you will be booked for an initial consultation appointment, after which regular counselling appointments will be scheduled as needed. Please visit the How to Access Services page to book an appointment.
Students typically access counselling for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to: stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, loneliness, school-life balance, academic concerns as well as many others. No concern is too small! We are here to support you.
What can I expect at an appointment?
An initial appointment is an opportunity to meet with your counsellor about your concerns. Together you and your counsellor will explore your concerns and identify goals. The counsellor will then set up subsequent appointments as needed and support you in working towards those goals. In the event that your concern requires a more specialized or longer term approach, we will provide referrals to the appropriate resources.
There is some initial paperwork to be completed in advance of your appointment; you will be provided with a link to complete forms prior to the appointment. Please note that your appointment may need to be rescheduled if you are late or if the forms are not completed ahead of time. It is best to arrive a few minutes early so your appointment can start on time; if you are late, your session will still end at the scheduled time or be rebooked in order to respect the time of the students booked after you. We appreciate being informed 24 hrs in advance if you are unable to attend your appointment, if at all possible, so that another student can access the time slot.
Please note that counselling sessions and information shared are confidential and our counsellors adhere to professional regulations and relevant legislation. At your initial appointment, you will be asked to complete an informed consent form, which provides additional details regarding confidentiality.
