Alberta 3rd Year Welding Apprentices that pass the exam will not be issued a Grade 'B' Pressure Welders Certificate of Competency or the initial performance qualification card until an Alberta Journeyman Welder Certificate of Competency is submitted to ABSA.
- Examination candidates can find detailed information on the examination procedure, ABSA office locations, cancellation policy, and failure policy in the Grade “B” Pressure Welder Certificate of Competency Examination Reference Syllabus AB-61.
Certified Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Testing
Northwestern Polytechnic is a Certified Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Testing Facility. If you are a welder or welding apprentice you can make arrangements for testing at NWP.
All welders working for a certified company must be qualified by the CWB under W47.1. This is a practical test that needs to be renewed every two years. The practical test ensures that the welder is competent to welding in the given process and position that is tested.
