The NWP Academic Staff Association includes approximately 213 full and part-time instructional staff at the Grande Prairie and Fairview campuses.
Collective Agreement Negotiations

The Polytechnic and ASA met on January 28th to continue collective bargaining discussions. Discussions remain ongoing and are anticipated to continue at the next scheduled meeting on February 11th. Bargaining Progress
| January 28, 2025 |
| The ASA provided the Polytechnic with a revised monetary proposal. The proposal is currently being reviewed by the Polytechnic. It is important for the Polytechnic that as it engages in collective bargaining discussions, that the parties understand the operational challenges we are facing. Those include funding challenges and high direct instructional costs. We want to ensure that we are negotiating an agreement that will allow for current and future success for Northwestern Polytechnic |
| January 14, 2025 |
The Polytechnic and ASA met on January 14th to continue collective bargaining discussions. The parties discussed monetary proposals. Those discussions remain ongoing and are anticipated to continue at the next scheduled meeting on January 28th. NWP was transparent with the ASA, as it has been and will continue to be with our community, about the operational challenges that we face. Those include the enrollment and funding challenges caused by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), as well as our high direct instructional costs. We are hopeful that the parties will be able to come to a collective agreement that will allow NWP to face these challenges and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Polytechnic and our community.

| The Polytechnic and ASA will meet on January 14, 2025 as the parties continue negotiations on a renewed collective agreement. The parties last met on November 26, 2024. |
| November 26, 2024 |
| Approval of previously shared NWP summary documents. The ASA team provided a proposal presentation and opened the floor for a Q & A segment. Agreement to appoint an administrator as a neutral recorder for future meetings. |
| October 15, 2024 |
| NWP team presented the opening position summary document of the specific articles and sections open for discussion. Each item was reviewed, highlighting specific changes under consideration. The ASA team presented an opening position summary document and noted the intention to share a more detailed position following the meeting. This information was shared via email on October 18, 2024. |
| September 24, 2024 |
| Presentations from both parties across issues. Decision that opening positions would be presented at the next meeting. |
| August 20, 2024 |
| Introduction of bargaining teams and plan for moving forward. |
