Grande Prairie Campus
Located in the south of Alberta’s Peace Country, and 450kms Northwest of Edmonton, our Grande Prairie Campus delivers state-of-the-art career programs & specialty training. Students have the benefit of smaller class sizes coupled with high quality personalized instruction, ensuring comprehensive opportunities for the learners of our region as well as students from across Canada and around the world. Programs include hands-on training to give graduates a head start in their chosen field. Instruction in selected programs is provided through both classroom instruction and videoconference.
The NWP Student's Association works hard to make college life a pleasant experience, looking out for the student interest and hosting a variety of entertainment. Howlers on-campus lounge is a great place to meet up with friends for a pool and some good food!
Our campus includes a cafeteria, daycare, on-site bank machines, bookstore, theatres, fitness centre and more. Our Learning Commons is the academic heart of NWP, and offers supports to both students and faculty in a number of areas, including research. We even have an on-site Health Centre that provides countless services for our students. Our residences are located a short walk away from the city's Muskoseepi Park trail system, which winds through the city following along Bear Creek. Go for a hike or bike ride and who knows what wildlife you'll run into!
Our Campus Recreation program promotes the physical and mental health of our students with intramurals and fun special events, like the annual Howlers Cup Dodgeball Tournament! Neighbouring our campus are the GP Minor Baseball diamonds, where students can get a scrimmage game going or join the city league to play competitively.
We offer on-campus housing for over 500 students, with furnished accommodations for both single students as well as those with families.
Grande Prairie is unique in that it has the amenities of a large city, but has retained its small town atmosphere. To the west, we border on a large commercial district, that has everything a student could want, all within walking distance! There is a grocery store, pharmacies, houseware & clothing stores, movie theatre, bowling alley, numerous restaurants & lounges and more! Access to areas that are more difficult to walk to is facilitated by the public transit route, which has a stop outside of the College's main entrance.
NWP has a special relationship with the surrounding community. We have built these ties through strong community involvement and programs such as our children's summer camps. There are many opportunities for our students to participate within the community at large, whether it's taking advantage of the facilities offered or by volunteering their time to help others. Grande Prairie and area offer extensive walking/ cross-country ski trails, downhill skiing, golf courses, a curling rink, hockey & skating arenas as well as the many facets of the new multiplex.
NWP has something for everyone!
